The filling used in each cake will be different. Many people prefer to fill the cakes with nuts and it is really very tasty. Some of the ingredients that are used in these cakes include the hazel nuts, chocolate, leek, carob filling, cheese like the cottage cheese, poppy seeds as well as honey. In the olden days, the cakes were not made in the earthen ware dishes. Instead, these cakes were prepared in the oven. The Potica recipe is not a new recipe. It has been in existence for more than 200 hundred years. Preparation of the dough using milk, butter, egg yolk, sugar, salt, vanilla and all purpose flour must be done carefully. This is in fact the most important step in the preparation of the cake.

Including a variety of healthy quinoa recipes in your daily diet is considered to be easy because of the versatility of the grain and the many recipes that are introduced all over the internet. Here are two of those that are worth trying:

  1. Mystic Mushroom and Quinoa Chowder. This recipe is composed of quinoa, diced onion, butter, molasses, chopped button mushrooms, chicken stock, heavy cream, chopped fresh shiitake mushroom, fresh chives, crème fraiche, salt and pepper. The first thing that you should do is to toast quinoa in your skillet. Melt butter in your saucepan and cook onions in it for about six to eight minutes or until they caramelize. Add the mushrooms, quinoa and molasses into the pan. Cook this mixture until the mushrooms have released all their liquid. After that, you need to pour the remaining chicken stock into the pan. Boil the mixture and then simmer it for eighteen to twenty minutes. The next step is to melt butter in a skillet. Cook the shiitake mushrooms in it until they become soft. Set them aside. Start pureeing the soup in your blender or food processor and place it back into the pan. Add the cream into the mixture and heat it. Use salt and pepper to season the dish and garnish it with shiitake mushrooms, creame fraiche and chives before serving.

  2. Quinoa with Sweet Potato and Mushrooms. The ingredients that you will need for this include quinoa, salt, water, minced garlic, olive oil, chopped sweet onion, peeled and diced sweet potato, cayenne pepper, sliced crimini mushrooms, chopped toasted pecans, salt and pepper. Set your saucepan over medium heat and cook and stir quinoa in it for about five minutes. Add water and salt into the pan. Boil this mixture and then simmer it for twenty minutes. Heat olive oil in your skillet and cook and stir garlic and onion in it for five minutes. Add the cayenne pepper, mushrooms and sweet potatoes into the skillet. Use salt and pepper to season the mixture and then cover it. Cook for another twenty minutes while stirring occasionally. Pour water into the skillet. Place the cooked quinoa in a plate and spoon the vegetable mixture over it. Before serving, make sure that you also sprinkle chopped pecans over it.
